Activities - What to
do in Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Lakes
and Mammoth Mountain are the homes to many a
fun activity. Each season has it's own
sports, events and things to do that are
special. During the Fall the Colors are
amazing, during winter the landscape turns a
beautiful winter white, spring offers
fishing like you cannot believe and summer
is like living in a field of dreams.
Here is an idea of what you can do in the
Winter Time:
Walking, the arts, read a book, run, road
biking, skiing, snowboarding, village
championship racing, the unbound series, the
unbound parks, powder riding, cross country
ski in the lakes basin or at shady rest,
snow shoeing, sledding, dog sledding, build
a snowman, ice skate in town, ice skate a
lake, kite ski, take a balloon ride, ride to
the top of Mammoth Mountain, après ski
scene, enjoy a village fire pit, eat out,
listen to a concert, watch a movie, rent a
DVD, have a winter picnic, snow shovel, burn
some wood, take some picture's, enjoy some
coffee, mtn biker rock creek canyon, walk
your dog, snowmobile, try a full moon winter
activities under the white night sky, enjoy
the night life, winter fish hot creek!
If
Sledding is the thing your into then
your in luck this year again as we have
plenty of snow in town. The unofficial
town sled site is a great place to go.
Bring a helmet it is getting firm on all

Cross Country
Skiing is
going full bore up at the tamarack cross
country ski center. Mammoth Nordic has
reformed and the word is they will be
grooming again down at shady rest. You

he Ski Renter is right across the street
and have rentals of you need them.
Snow Shoeing
is one of may favorite off the hill sports
here in mammoth lakes. Snow shoeing can be a
nice stroll in the fresh snow for fun or a
serious cardio work out with snow fun added

The Winter
Fishing season
is on... Hot Creek and the Upper Owens River
are open for serious fishing. The ground is
a bit moist in spots with a few patch's of
snow, temperatures in the 40s mid day with
lows in the teens at night. You can

Mountain
Biking should
shut down for awhile with all the snow in
mono county. We will do an update the
first part of the year.

Local events take place year round. The months of
July and August give you the most continuous line up
of in town events you will find all year long. With
the Jazz Jubilee, Bluesapaloza and the many other
events we have in the Mammoth Lakes area you're
going to have a blast! The first two events we
noted have so much to do you will not have time for
anything else while your here.
During winter one of the feature events is the
Mammoth Mountain Night of Lights. Held the week
before Christmas this event is the ski areas gift to
the towns locals and early Christmas guests. With
Fire works and a on snow torch light parade this is
one event you want to attend with your family.
Other forms of fun activities revolve around racing
action in town, on Mammoth Mountain and around the
Eastern High Sierra. You will find everything from
the summer mt bike village championship series, to
the winter ski race version of the village champion
ship series, master ski racing, the wci, footloose
freedom mile... and so much more.
As you can see there is a lot of great things to do
here in Mammoth Lakes. On top of all these
activities, Mammoth Mountain and The Town of Mammoth
host many special events during the year.
